Dr Pratik Swarup Dash joined Tata Steel in 2001, after completing MTech in Chemical Engineering and later completed his PhD from IIT, Kharagpur. With an extensive 24-years of research experience in the area of coal beneficiation, coke making, advanced carbon materials, CCUS, and environmental sustainability, he presently serves as the Chief , Sustainability Research Group, Tata Steel, Jamshedpur.
Dr Pratik has received ‘Young Metallurgist of the Year Award’ in 2007 and ‘Certificate of Excellence for R&D in Iron and Steel’ in 2021 from Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India. Dr Dash has received the prestigious ‘Tata Innovista Award’ five times. He was also a member of the team that won R&D 100 Award in the Mechanical/Material category for 5 tpd CO2 capture plant & Energy Transition Changemakers Award during COP 28 Presidency for SMART cooling tower.
Dr Dash has published more than 100 papers in referred international & national journals of repute and conference proceedings. In addition, 60 of his filed patents have been granted. He is an active member of several national level task forces such as CCUS, R&D and Demonstration, and Biomass Utilization for Green Steel under Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India. Dr Dash also contributes as an expert panel member in the high-level task force of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India for roadmap preparation & projects evaluation in the area of carbon capture utilization and storage.
